Each of our electric scooter tours begins with an orientation session in Indiana Plaza regardless of any prior experience in riding scooters. Learning to move through the park helps guests get a feel for the size of the scooter and how to navigate with pedestrians, through tight spaces, and other types of maneuvers needed to make the most of your tour of Washington DC.

Our electric scooter tours run rain or shine; guests may receive a full refund when tours are cancelled more than 24 hours in advance. Refunds are not given for any last-minute cancellations unless hazardous weather conditions make riding dangerous, and tours are cancelled by the company. If it is raining at the start of the tour, guests will be allowed to cancel their tour and receive a refund.

Unfortunately, anyone under the age of 16 and pregnant women will not be permitted to participate (absolutely no exceptions – if anyone is under 16 years old, they cannot ride an electric scooter in Washington DC under any circumstances). Minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult on the tour and will not be allowed to tour alone. Also guests need to weigh under 275 pounds or there is a risk of scooter failure and damages must be paid for by the guest.

BiPartisan Tour Company has a strict policy against alcohol consumption and electric scooter operation. Alcohol is forbidden on all electric scooter tours and any client suspected of drinking before or during an electric scooter tour will immediately forfeit their tour and no refund will be given.

For your riding safety, guests must be at least 16 years of age and weigh 275 pounds or less. Yes, unfortunately the age restriction is City Law and no, there are no exceptions.

We do have some options for families with younger children. One scooter has separate handlebars for children under 6 years old and can pull a trailer for 2 children under 5 or 6 years old.

Unfortunately, due to the risk to both child and mother, pregnant women are not allowed to participate on our electric scooter tours.

At this time, BiPartisan Tour Company has a fleet of 6 scooters, maybe 7, but arrangements would need to be made in advance.

Unfortunately, our electric scooters are not available to rent out to guests without a guide.

Yes, there is no office space at the meeting location, so only the number of scooters needed for the tour are on hand.

Our electric scooter tours run rain or shine because we have many guests still want to do something fun even when the weather doesn’t fully cooperate. We encourage all guests to be aware of the weather forecast and dress accordingly, we can provide simple raincoats at no charge when needed. Guests can receive a full refund when tours are cancelled more than 24 hours in advance. If it’s raining at the beginning of a tour and a guest decides they want to cancel the tour, we will not force guests on tour and full refunds will be issued.

No, all our tours run rain or shine, unless conditions are hazardous or expected to be extreme in some manner. In the event of rain, guides will have long rain jackets that are free of charge. If it is raining at the start of the tour, guests will not be forced to go on tour in the rain and may be refunded. It is our experience that the weather report is often wrong, and it doesn’t rain at all or only for a brief period.

Your electric scooter tour will start promptly at the scheduled time, please arrive a few minutes prior to tour departure time to complete the necessary paperwork, meet your guide, and other guests that may be joining the tour.

If guests are more than 15 minutes late, the tour may be forfeited, and no refund will be issued. If you’re group is the tour, then our staff has no problem waiting to start the tour, but if other guests are on the tour, we don’t ask them to wait.

Each member of your party will be required to complete and sign a liability waiver form. If one or more hasn’t been completed prior to arriving for the tour, the waivers can be filled out through our App before training on a scooter. Minors under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian to complete their paperwork.

Your safety is always our highest priority; therefore, we begin each tour with an orientation of our Electric Scooters and things to expect throughout the tour!

Our electric scooters are incredibly safe, the platforms are low to the ground, making it easy to step off with either foot when slowing down or stopping. The dual brakes work effortlessly, and the huge wheels and fat tires absorb bumps or vibrations for super smooth cruising. Scooters have been around since 1817, so come join the masses, or if you’ve been riding scooters for years, you can still enjoy a scooter experience like no other!

Each of our tours will begin with details about the components on the scooter, location of power button, braking considerations, and shifting through the gears. All guests will practice in the park and be comfortable stopping on both sides and moving as slow as possible, both on and off the scooter because that’s what all riders of electric vehicles must do on the city’s sidewalks and street corners when there are so many pedestrians, which always have the right of way.

If a guest is not comfortable after training and does not want to continue with the tour, BiPartisan Tour Company will certainly refund the tour for the guest and any members of his or her party that chooses not to participate on the tour as well. We want our guests to have fun and be a part of an enjoyable unique experience, but certainly appreciate someone’s honesty when it comes to their personal safety concerns.

Yes, helmets are provided, and we require all riders to wear helmets on our tours.

Currently, we are not using headsets. We want our guests enjoying and focusing on their riding in between stops. There is plenty of stopping along the way to share stories and help take pictures.

Most of our scooter tours enjoy wide sidewalks or gravel paths, but we do occasionally ride in the street, or a dedicated bike lane and our staff will be sure to point out any areas of concern along the way.

Sometimes it is easier to push a scooter or walk alongside the scooter when the sidewalks are crowded or when using a congested cross walk.

A deposit is not required, but adults will need to present identification before the tour.

No, guests are not allowed to skip any locations along the tour. If you feel you can’t visit a place, you can inquire about scheduling a private electric scooter tour of DC.

No. We will ride in an orderly and respectable fashion which recognizes that pedestrians and others that use public sidewalks always have the right away. There may be times when the whole scooter tour does not make it across the street during the allotted time given in a crosswalk. We will not be rushing to get to the next stops even if a private tour is scheduled.

We meet in Indiana Plaza, which is located across the street from Starbucks at 325 7th Street NW. Our meeting location is centrally located in downtown DC. It is diagonally across the street from the National Archives and about halfway between the US Capitol and the White House.

It still takes a considerable amount of time to navigate crowds, crosswalks, school groups, adult groups, construction, security concerns, etc. We still love our history and enjoy taking the time to share stories and giving guests some freedom to explore the monument or memorials along the National Mall on their own. We are also not rushing from location to location, so enjoy the slow roll and ride in style. During the day tour, we try to include as many locations as possible. Any private tour in the Washington DC, whether it is a walking tour, bus tour, or some other tour will have a 4-hour minimum. If the tour is not 4 hours long, then other tours are cutting out more locations. Unfortunately, for us as a staff, our electric scooter tours are not sharing as much history as our bus tours once did, but everyone is having more fun!

Some additional locations that may be included:

        • Einstein Memorial
        • Ford’s Theatre
        • Law Enforcement Memorial
        • National Building Museum
        • Octagon House
        • DC Memorial
        • Air Force, Marine Corps, and/or Pentagon Memorial are in Virginia.

Most bus tours in Washington DC are not 4 hours long because they don’t include stops at all the major attractions. We don’t guarantee that we will on our electric scooter tours, but we accomplish a lot. Guests will get up and close to the memorials, hear some great stories of American History, and have some time to take pictures or explore on their own. If a group is having fun, chances are the electric scooter tour may run long. Any type of private tour in Washington DC will have a 4-hour minimum, despite the mode of transportation because that simply how long it takes to visit and enjoy the places along the National Mall and Virginia.

Private tours are available when they don’t conflict with any regularly scheduled tours.

We reserve time to walk around memorials on tour (for example, the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, and the Vietnam Memorial) but we do not enter museums due to time constraints on tour. Our electric scooter tours are designed to enjoy a riding adventure on a timeless classic with some modern flair by taking in all the major attractions while remaining outdoors.
